The AFRICAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL is one of the major overall part of the Caribbean African Reunion project. After-all in seeking to reunite those Africans born on the continent and those bom in the Caribbean (as well as Europe and the Americas), we need to promote the cultural heritage that we all share.

Our culture identifies who we are as a people and the primary source of any culture is the language. The concept of the African Language School therefore, is based on the fact that African languages will help us to relocate us as Africans and to help us to identify ourselves with our African heritage.

In reuniting all African peoples, it is important that we are able to communicate with each other and without an understanding of the means of communication, we can never unite. Language therefore is the key in helping us towards a greater understanding not only within our community but from a cultural perspective. In short, sharing a language will result in an appreciation of our African heritage and cultures and contribute to our unity.

Another aspect of learning a language is the added bonus of becoming familiar with the history, the code of dress, the mannerisms and practices as well as the food of the country whose language one is studying. An appreciation of these other parts of the culture will naturally lessens discriminatory attitudes while increasing the level of tolerance among all peoples and races.

It is important to emphasise at this stage that The African Language School is not nor will ever condone or accept any form of discrimination. On this basis, we welcome students from all race, creed, colour, religion, social and economic status and denominations. In this context, for those people, irrespective of their nationalities, who are intending visiting African countries, by attending our school and learning the language, it will help them to understand and appreciate better, the people and indeed culture of the country or countries they wish to visit.

Another important element of the African Language School is that those who were and are being born in countries outside of the African continent will learn about their 'Mother-tongue', again familiarising themselves with aspect of their culture. When visiting their relatives in Africa, they will be able to converse in the same language and therefore gain respect from their families.
