About the African Language School

The African Language School was established to teach people in general, but Africans in particular, about African languages. For the general public, they might have some interest in terms of holidaying in Africa. They might have businesses in Africa. For Africans however, it is more crucial. It is to help us to retain our
culture.

Today in the UK, there are many African children who are unable to speak their Mother tongue. There are children who are unable to converse with their grandparents. Because African cultures are of Oral tradition, this means that, not knowing one’s language is not knowing one’s culture.

The teaching of culture, like education in general, helps us to recognize who we and our place in society. It also helps us to develop as human beings.
